Job Description

YWCA Banff is a community-based, feminist organization with over 100 years of experience in Banff and the Bow Valley. Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, our organization shapes a safe, inclusive community that empowers women and their community in support of our vision of a thriving, equitable society.

The primary role of the Residential Programs Supervisor is to support the residential programs team in dealing with day-to-day Shelter, Transitional Housing, Project Home, and YWCA Banff Supportive, affordable Housing operations. This role will provide leadership to the residential programs team including scheduling, staff orientation/training, case consultation and case load management. Additionally, this role will require you to take on front line support and duties as required.

Job Requirements

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Train, support, and guide program staff through ongoing communication and decision-making assistance.

Develop partnerships with community agencies to enhance client support.

Manage staff schedules, timesheets, and on-call rotations.

Act as a liaison between internal teams and participate in managerial meetings.

Maintain program documentation, forms, and staff training materials.

Oversee data accuracy and adherence to best client-focused practices.

Support program development, evaluations, and performance management.

Step in as Manager of Residential Programs as required

Front-line Responsibilities:

Provide emotional support, referrals, and crisis intervention for individuals facing domestic/sexual violence or housing insecurity.

Answer crisis calls and ensure strict adherence to confidentiality policies.

Complete documentation and statistical reporting for all residential programs.

Oversee after-hours on-call scheduling and daily program operations.

Collaborate with the Residential Programs Manager and participate in internal working groups.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Understands the gendered nature of domestic and sexual violence.

Practices a feminist or anti-oppressive approach with a survivor-centered focus.

Demonstrates empathy, compassion, and respect for colleagues and clients.

Works self-reflectively and seeks continuous professional development.

Maintains expertise in trauma-informed care and empowerment-based practices.

Qualifications, skills, and abilities

Education & Certification: Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field; registration with a governing body preferred.

Experience: Prior work in sexual assault, domestic violence, homelessness, or affordable housing.

Leadership & Supervision: Strong supervisory, mentorship, and coaching skills; experience in staff supervision and scheduling is an asset.

Knowledge & Expertise:

Domestic violence dynamics, women’s issues, and Bow Valley’s unique challenges.

Crisis intervention, including intimate partner, child, and elder abuse.

Gender-based violence, homelessness, suicide prevention, addictions, and mental health.

Relevant legislation (Landlord and Tenants Act, Protection for Persons in Care Act, Children First Legislation).

Local social services and community resources.

Skills:

Exceptional organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs.

Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Position Details:
-37.5 hrs. per week over 5 days. Full time on-site position

-Expectation of some evening and weekend work, including working on-call shifts
