Graphic Designer

Job Description

We’re looking for a Graphic Designer to join our team at Valley Sign and Design! If you have a strong eye for design, love bringing ideas to life, and enjoy working on projects that range from branding to large-scale signage, this could be the perfect role for you.

In this position, you’ll be at the heart of the creative process – designing logos, branding elements, and custom signage for a variety of businesses. You’ll also create assets for both print and digital use, ensuring that every project reflects creativity and quality. While this is primarily a design-focused role, you’ll also have the opportunity to see your work come to life through hands-on production and installation. We provide training in printing and vinyl application, so you can take your designs from concept to final product.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Design, File Prep, and Branding
• Develop eye-catching signage, branding, and marketing materials that make an impact.
• Create print-ready files with precision and attention to detail.
• Work on a variety of projects, from logo design to large-format graphics and web assets.

Printing and Production
• Operate wide-format printers and vinyl plotters to bring your designs to life.
• Handle laminating, weeding, masking, and applying vinyl to different materials.
• Learn the technical side of signage production – training provided!

Installation
• Apply vinyl graphics to walls, windows, and vehicles with precision.
• Install flat signs made from materials like aluminum and Sintra at various locations.
• Most installs are straightforward, and we provide in-depth training to ensure you’re comfortable with the process.
• There’s nothing quite like seeing your designs go from concept to reality, watching your work take shape in the shop and then walking the streets of Banff, seeing it on display for millions of people to enjoy!

Customer Collaboration
• Work directly with clients to understand their vision and translate it into great designs.
• Visit project sites for measurements and design consultations.
• Keep clients updated on project progress via email and phone.

General Shop and Office Duties
• Assist with preparing estimates and quotes for customer projects.
• Maintain and troubleshoot printing equipment to keep projects running smoothly.
• Keep the shop organized and running efficiently.
