Job Description

Full-Time, Seasonal: May 13, 2025 – Sept 1, 2025 (5 days/week including weekends)

Would you enjoy working outside for much of each day, cycling and walking around Banff to perform various tasks, including putting out and taking down signs, conducting traffic and parking surveys? Would you enjoy having weekdays off to enjoy what Banff and the National Park have to offer?

We are hiring a Traffic and Parking Assistant, who will “Take Care of Banff” by working with the Engineering Department to deliver the following outcomes:
1. Assist with traffic management by monitoring traffic and executing unique traffic signal patterns to mitigate delays.
2. Deploy signage as required.
3. Assist with parking and traffic surveys throughout town.
4. Monitor, track and report relevant observations on vehicle congestion in Banff.
5. Inform drivers of locations of free parking in the townsite through traffic direction and conversations
6. Represent the Town of Banff as an advocate for public safety and encourage enjoyment of Banff as the service centre for the National Park, particularly as a pedestrian, cyclist or transit rider.

Job Requirements

You are proficient with a range of common technology and software. You have physical stamina and are able to lift and move 10-20kg signs. You have tolerance for extreme weather, as you will spend a lot of your day outside.

You are comfortable and experienced riding a bicycle on busy residential streets. You have the ability and confidence to make on-the-spot decisions by exercising good judgement in the face of practical challenges, demonstrating tact and diplomacy in your communications and actions. A local knowledge of Banff and familiarity with initiatives outlined in the Transportation Master Plan, particularly related to the history of traffic and parking challenges, are an asset.

This position is specifically scheduled Wednesdays through Sundays (40 hours per week) with Mondays and Tuesdays off. The wage for this position is $26.00 per hour.
