Job Description
The Whyte in Banff is looking for a highly motivated and team-oriented person to share their passion for the art, history, and culture of this area with a wide variety of museum visitors. This position is 100% focused on visitor experience through engagement, education, and tours.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Deliver scripted tours daily to visitors and tour groups
• Be present in galleries and on museum grounds to engage with visitors
• Assist/deliver other interpretive programs as required
• Conduct independent reading and tour-based research in the areas of Rocky Mountain art, culture, and history
• Assist in writing a tour for the summer exhibition
• Gather visitor feedback and comments
• Complete social media tasks and projects
• Other duties as assigned
Training and Scheduling:
• This is a full-time position of 35 hours a week.
• The workweek will consist of a 5-day schedule in both the Education & Visitor Services departments and will include weekends and statutory holidays.
• Candidates must commit to the entire term of work.
• Candidates must adhere to a dress code.

Demonstrated knowledge of the cultures and history of the Canadian Rockies, including but not limited to local Indigenous Nations, such as Iyârhe Nakoda Nations (Bearspaw, Goodstoney, Chiniki) Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), Tsuut’ina, Ktunaxa, Secwépemc, Cree, and Métis.

Job Requirements
Qualifications:
• Be highly motivated and interested in public education, engagement, and visitor experience
• Have strong oral and written communication skills
• Be fluent in the English language (French would be an asset)
• Have excellent time management, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Be reliable, friendly, and enjoy interacting with the public
• Be able to work independently and on a team
• Have at least one year of post-secondary education in the field of Canadian History, Art, Art History, Natural Science, or a related field
• Certification in First Aid/CPR
• Experience in an education or museum setting a plus
