Position Overview: The Fitness Monitor will provide members and guests with a high level of customer service while overseeing the safety and use of fitness services at Elevation Place. Your primary role will be to provide a welcoming environment and orientation to new and existing users of the equipment and facility. You will educate our members and guests on how the fitness center is being used safely and in a manner that is respectful and enjoyable for everyone. You will play a key role in ensuring the proper use, sanitation, and sterilization of equipment for our pre-booked guests. Some administrative work will also be required in order to collect data on the usage of the fitness center and the upkeep and maintenance of the equipment. Customer service, safety, and fitness is what it’s all about in this position! Your love of fitness combined with your lively, friendly, and upbeat attitude will make members and guests thoroughly enjoy their time working out of Elevation Place. As a physically fit individual, you will be a positive role model and advocate for a healthy lifestyle.
Job Requirements
Core Accountabilities:
Ensures that members and guests are using fitness equipment in a safe and effective manner, and are abiding by fitness centre guidelines
Maintains records of facility usage for reporting and business decisions
Reports deficiencies and maintenance needs with the person most appropriate for resolution
Is generally knowledgeable about all Town of Canmore recreation services
Is up to date with fitness best practices and how to adapt them to our organization and business environment
Competently performs light cleaning tasks of equipment and fitness space
Follows established standard operating procedures for safety, customer service
Maintains confidentiality of all client information
Education & Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in recreation and/or sport – preferred
Current Standard First Aid / Intermediate First Aid & CPR/AED Level C Certification – required
AFLCA, Canfitpro, or other fitness certification– asset
Experience:
1 year of related experience in working in a fitness or sport environment – required
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook – required
Demonstrated ability to speak and write clearly - required
Ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities – required
Excellent customer service skills – required
Ability to work independently and take charge of a situation when needed - required
Physically fit with the ability to bend and lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds – required
Can comfortably enforce fitness centre guidelines while maintaining a high quality of service and positive customer relationship - required
Previous custodial and cleaning experience - asset
Work Schedule:
Thursday to Sunday availability. Successful applicants will be expected to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
