Job Description
The Town of Canmore, is currently accepting applications and looking to fill a permanent full-time position as Aquatics Coordinator – Programming and Scheduling. Position Overview: As part of the Recreation Leadership Team at the Town of Canmore (“Town”) and reporting to the Aquatics Supervisor, the Aquatics Coordinator – Programming and Scheduling (“Coordinator”) is responsible for the development, coordination, and implementation of aquatic programs and services which are inclusive and serve to respond to diverse and changing community needs. Additionally, this position takes the lead on staff scheduling and instructor development for aquatic based programs and services. Time is split between administrative work and leading the Aquatics team.
Job Requirements
Core Accountabilities:
Responsible for aquatic programing, including the preparation, scheduling and maintenance of instructional material for various aquatic program and services
Responsible for the long term/short term planning for aquatic program development in collaboration with the Supervisor of Aquatics
Responsible for the scheduling of aquatic staff and contractors to meet program delivery at required staffing levels
Work with the Aquatics Supervisor to develop relationships and liaise with the local school divisions, community groups, and other stakeholders to explore and develop integrated aquatic programs
Assists with planning and implementation in the aquatic annual shutdown
Assist in the development of Aquatic Centre Policies in conjunction with all Provincial regulations and standards and the Supervisor of Aquatics
Is knowledgeable about the IntelliLeisure software and the most effective methods for entering and retrieving data
Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of statistical reports/records and ensure that all personnel administration is accurate and current
Provide swim instruction, aquafit instruction, lifeguarding and special programs to members and guests of Elevation Place, as required
Education & Qualifications:
National Lifeguard Award and Intermediate First Aid certifications – required
Swim and Lifesaving Society Instructor certifications – required
Lifesaving First Aid Instructor and National Lifeguard Instructor certifications – required
Lifesaving Society Instructor Trainer certification – required
Post-secondary education in a related field such as Kinesiology or Recreation – preferred
Pool Operator Level I and Level II certifications – asset
AFLA/CALA Fitness or other specialty certifications – asset
Experience:
Minimum three years of experience in the Aquatic industry at a coordinator, programmer, or supervisory level – required
Ability to work a variety of shift times and hours including evenings and weekends – required
Working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, IntelliLeisure, and Dayforce Software – preferred
Work Schedule: Schedule consists of working a 40-hour work week, including evenings and weekends, typically Wednesday to Sunday. Here is the work schedule:
Wednesday - 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
Thursday - 10:00 am - 6:30 pm or 1:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm or 1:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Saturday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
Sunday 9:00 am - 5:30 pm
Monday & Tuesday are days off

Pay Range- $33.84 to $37.82 per hour. Compensation will be calculated based on the successful candidate’s related work experience and education
