Job Description

Serving as a part-time Animal Care Attendant, on location, at Canada’s first no-kill, no-cage Adoption Centre in Canmore, Alberta, you will be responsible for all aspects of caring for our animals and keeping our Centre clean.

Reporting directly to Adoption Centre Manager, you will support the successful implementation of policies and directives established by the Board of Directors.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for animals and animal welfare, and is a hardworking cleaner. While you will get to hang out with animals all shift (best “coworkers” ever!), the focus of your job will be ensuring that the animals have a clean and healthy environment, so we need hard workers who aren’t afraid to get dirty. Being comfortable to work alone with dogs of all sizes, breeds, temperaments, and behavioural challenges is important, as well as being comfortable administering medications to dogs and cats. We are looking for dependable and hardworking individuals.

We are currently hiring for the following positions (long-term, not seasonal):

A permanent staff member available to work Thursday AM (7am-12pm) AND Saturday AM (7am-12pm) with training to start immediately for solo shifts beginning in June.

Casual longterm staff members available to work a range of shifts Monday to Sunday, AM (7am-12pm) and/or PM (4pm-9pm), to cover permanent staff as-needed. Ideal candidate will have a flexible schedule and ability to pick up shifts on short notice.

To apply, please email a resume and cover letter (highlighting your animal and cleaning experience) to daisy@bowvalleyspca.org. Please indicate whether you are applying for the permanent, or casual position. Applications will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.

We thank all that apply, but please note that only successful applicants will be contacted for an interview.
