Park Ambassador & Hut Custodian – Elk Lakes Cabin
Elk Lakes Provincial Park
The Alpine Club of Canada (ACC) is excited to invite applications for the position of Park Ambassador & Hut Custodian at the Elk Lakes Cabin, nestled in the breathtaking Elk Lakes Provincial Park. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a wilderness setting, ideal for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy summer hiking. As a Hut Custodian, you will play a key role in maintaining the cabin and its facilities, while providing exceptional service to visitors. This position allows you to contribute to the stewardship of this remarkable natural space and leave a lasting impact on the park.
Position Overview:
As a Park Ambassador & Hut Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining the facilities at Elk Lakes Provincial Park to ensure they meet the high standards of the ACC. This is a hands-on role, requiring a combination of facility upkeep and guest engagement, all while working independently in a remote, wilderness setting.
Job Requirements
Schedule:
This position runs from June 1 to September 30, with 2 shifts per week on Saturdays and Sundays.
Primary responsibilities:
Perform general and preventative maintenance on park structures, including repairs, painting, and refinishing of the cabin and campground facilities.
Greet and orient visitors at the Elk Lakes Cabin and the Lower Lake campground, promoting leave-no-trace principles and proper user etiquette.
Ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of visitors by maintaining the park’s facilities, including the cabin, campground, trails, and surrounding wilderness areas.
Maintain the cleanliness and operational integrity of all cabin and campground facilities, ensuring they meet the ACC's standards.
Collect campground visitor fees and provide accurate reports to the ACC National Office.
Conduct trail maintenance throughout the park, ensuring accessibility and safety for hikers.

Are detail-oriented, reliable, and safety-conscious.
A second language is an asset.

Perks and Benefits
Compensation is a set daily rate based on a 8 hour day.
Mileage will be reimbursed on each pay monthly.
An ACC single membership is provided.
Accommodation at Elk Lakes Cabin while on duty provided.
