Position Overview
*Flexible start date: anytime now until July 7
The primary duties of the Adaptive Equipment Technician will include the maintenance and repair of all RMA’s summer sports equipment. This will include adaptive bikes, kayaks and other paddling equipment, adaptive hiking equipment, and other specialty adaptive equipment. Other aspects of this role may include managing adaptive equipment rental set up, delivering rental equipment orientations to participants, administrative tracking of the equipment fleet, and assisting with general program equipment setup and pack down.
Roles and Responsibilities
– Conduct regular maintenance and repair of all RMA’s adaptive equipment (bikes, boats, parts & accessories, hiking equipment).
– Conduct regular cleaning and pack down of equipment
– Maintain records and tracking of entire RMA equipment fleet
– Manage equipment rentals (setting up equipment, greeting guests at rental set up, conduct equipment orientations, and perform follow ups after rental is returned)
– Maintain accurate records of rental orientations and equipment setups for future rentals
– Communicate with Program Team on any equipment needs, replacement parts, and/or tools needed
– Ensure regular communication and transfer of responsibilities on days off
– Assist Program Manager with other duties as assigned

Eligibility Criteria:
This position is funded through the Canadian Government Summer Jobs Grant Program. Eligible applicants must be 15 to 30 years of age, and a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident in order to apply.
Qualifications:
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
- Standard First Aid (AED/CPR C)
- Class 5 Driver’s Licence
Skills and Experience:
- Experience with bike and paddlesports equipment maintenance and repair
- Familiarity with tools and equipment required for maintenance
- Experience or interest in paddling, hiking, biking, swimming, climbing, or other mountain sports
- A keen interest in outdoor education and adaptive sport
- Ability to problem solve, work independently and as part of a team
- Experience driving a truck and trailer would be an asset.
- Class 4 Driver’s License would be an asset
- Time management and organizational skills
- Good oral and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills
- Quick learner
