Job Description
JK Bakery Café has been a beloved establishment in Canmore since 1994 operating two successful retail cafes and a wholesale department supplying baked goods to local hotels and restaurants. Summary
We are seeking a mature, dedicated and experienced Kitchen Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for cooking, and the ability to manage both staff and inventory effectively. This role requires a blend of creativity in product development as well as being able to follow well established recipes. As a manager of the kitchen you will ensure that our products meet high-quality standards while also driving sales and enhancing customer satisfaction. This is a working manager position so you should be proficient in creating soups, meals and pies from scratch.
This role is well-suited for an individual seeking a professional yet relaxed kitchen environment, offering daytime hours and weekends or Sundays and Mondays off.

Job Requirements
Manage the daily kitchen operations including production, inventory management and staff scheduling.
Lead, train, and motivate kitchen staff to deliver exceptional food quality and service.
Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed to maintain stock.
Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate prices for ingredients and materials needed for production.
Ensure compliance with health regulations and maintain a clean working environment.
Assist in hiring and training new kitchen staff members.
Develop and implement effective budgeting strategies to optimize costs while maximizing profitability.
Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and creativity among staff.
Oversee a team of 3 prep cooks and work alongside and collaborate with the pastry chef, head baker and cafe manager.
Experience & Requirements:
Must have Red Seal Cook, chef diploma or similar
Must have Food Safety Certificate
Proven experience in kitchen management or a similar role within the food industry.
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Proficient in phone etiquette for effective communication with suppliers and customers.
Experience in negotiating with vendors for better pricing on supplies is preferred.
Experience in menu development and cost control is an asset.

Must have a valid work permit, be a permanent resident or citizen of Canada. We do not have an LMIA for this position.
