Job Description

We are seeking a mature, dedicated and experienced baker to oversee the daily operations of the bakery department. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for baking, and the ability to manage both staff and inventory effectively. This role requires a blend of creativity in product development and strategic thinking in budgeting and sales management. As a manager of the baking department you will ensure that our products meet high-quality standards while also driving sales and enhancing customer satisfaction.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities:
-Supervise daily bakery operations, including production, inventory management, and staff scheduling.
-Develop and implement effective budgeting strategies to optimize costs while maximizing profitability.
-Monitor product pricing and adjust as necessary based on market trends and competition.
-Train, mentor, and evaluate bakery staff to ensure high performance and adherence to quality standards.
-Maintain an organized workspace that complies with health and safety regulations.
-Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate prices for ingredients and materials needed for production.
-Analyze sales data to identify trends, forecast demand, and adjust inventory levels accordingly.
-Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and creativity among staff.
-Oversee a team of 5 bakers and work alongside the chef and cafe manager.

Experience:
-Experience in both bread and pastry production as well as cake decorating.
-Proven experience in a managerial role within a bakery or similar food service environment is required.
-Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
-Time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
-Proficient in phone etiquette for effective communication with suppliers and customers.
-Experience in negotiating with vendors for better pricing on supplies is preferred.
