Job Description

Community Cruisers is seeking a Bike Parking Manager to oversee our Monitored Bike Parking Program—a free, secure bike parking service that helps make active transportation the easiest and most enjoyable way to get to community events.

This part-time, seasonal position pays $35/hour and averages 5-10 hours per week, depending on the event schedule. Work hours are flexible and include a mix of weekday, weekend and evening event coverage.

We encourage submissions from applicants of all backgrounds, regardless of race, colour, gender, national origin, age, religion, creed, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

To ensure that all applicants feel welcome and included, Community Cruisers will:
– Provide reasonable accommodations to applicants with disabilities
– Enquire how applicants would like to be referred to and honour their answer
– Offer flexible work arrangements to accommodate the needs of successful applicants

You are required to submit a resume and a cover letter outlining your skills and experience and how you would be an asset to the Bike Parking program. The application deadline is midnight Mountain Time on April 25, 2025.

About the Bike Parking Program

Community Cruisers provides monitored, free bike parking to encourage residents and visitors to leave the car at home and bike to the Canmore Mountain Market and special events throughout the summer. There’s no more enjoyable way to travel through town than by bike—taking in the action, sights, sounds, and mountain views. You’ll save on fuel, get some fresh air and exercise, reduce congestion, and help cut greenhouse gas emissions.

You can find our bright green tent every Thursday from 10am to 6pm at the Canmore Mountain Market (May–October), and at major events including the Canmore Folk Music Festival and the Canmore Highland Games. We’re also available to be contracted for other events in the Bow Valley.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Bike Parking Manager will report to the Community Cruisers board and oversee the delivery of the bike parking program throughout the 2025 season. Responsibilities include:

– Coordinate the bike parking schedule for weekly markets and special events.
– Liaise with event organizers to confirm site logistics, setup needs, and event timing.
– Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for each event.
– Transport, set up, and take down equipment including tent, table, signage, and racks.
– Oversee operations on site, ensuring smooth flow, secure bike parking, and a welcoming environment.
– Take photos and make social media posts on market days.
– Ensure donations are accounted for and deposited at CIBC.
– Collect and report program statistics, such as the number of bikes parked and volunteer hours.
– Provide a final report summarizing the season, including participation, feedback, and suggestions.

Community Cruisers provides training, promotional support, and access to our volunteer database.
