About the Pedal4Joy Program

The Pedal4Joy program is a free collaborative community ebike program which offers the opportunity for adults to improve their physical and mental health by participating in bike rides with three others, on a four seat adaptive ebike. Volunteers pilot free group bike rides for adults marginalized by age, physical or mental illness, and those compromised physically. The program facilitates, encourages and empowers a wide age range of adults to get outdoors, be physically and socially active and to bring adventure and fun back into their lives.

The key benefit of the program is improved physical and mental health of individuals in the Banff and Canmore communities that are compromised by age, illness, or physical limitations. E-bikes have recently been recognized to have positive health benefits. Use of a pedal assist e- bike not only provides more residents with an opportunity to bicycle outdoors at one time, but also promotes social connectivity and physical activity.
