Job Description

Buffalo Mountain Lodge in Banff, Alberta is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Housekeeping Manager . The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hospitality with experience in hotel cleaning environments. This role is crucial in ensuring that our standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction are consistently met.

Primary Function: The Assistant Housekeeping Manager is responsible for supporting the Housekeeping Manager in overseeing the housekeeping team to maintain impeccable standards of cleanliness in guest rooms and public areas of the lodge. This hands-on role involves ensuring efficient operations, addressing guest requests promptly and courteously, and stepping in for the Housekeeping Manager as needed. The Assistant Housekeeping Manager is expected to lead by example, actively participating in daily operations while assisting in team management and quality control.

Duties and Responsibilities:

v Operational Responsibilities

· Perform the basic duties of a room attendant and housekeeping supervisor as outlined in their job description

· Maintain very high standards when cleaning/checking guest rooms and public areas to set an example for housekeepers and supervisors

· Resolve guest complaints and issues promptly and professionally

· Report all maintenance defects in rooms and public areas to maintenance

· Keep an accurate log of all lost & found items

· Comply with health, safety, and sanitation policies

v Team Management and Development

· Train, motivate, coach, and mentor housekeeping team members

· Verify compliance with uniform, grooming, and appearance policies

· Assist in onboarding new employees

· Foster a positive work environment through clear communication and engagement

v Administrative Support

· Assist the Housekeeping Manager with supply inventories, payroll, scheduling, budgeting, and other administrative tasks

· Attend required meetings

· Cover for the Housekeeping Manager on their days off

· Assist in creating and updating daily checklists for housekeepers and supervisors

v Quality Control

· Conduct daily inspections to ensure cleanliness standards are consistently met

· Implement and maintain quality control policies and best practices

· Ensure guest satisfaction through prompt and efficient service

v Interdepartmental Coordination

· Liaise between housekeeping, front desk, and maintenance teams as needed

· Ensure effective communication with other departments to address guest needs and operational requirements

v Continuous Improvement

· Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in housekeeping

· Suggest and implement improvements to housekeeping processes and procedures

· Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities

Job Requirements

Requirements/Experience:

· Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in housekeeping, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role, preferably in a luxury hotel or resort setting

· Proven track record of maintaining high cleanliness standards and positive guest feedback

· In-depth knowledge of cleaning techniques, products, and equipment

· Understanding of health and safety regulations in the hospitality industry

· Strong leadership and team management skills

· Problem-solving and decision-making abilities

· Exceptional attention to detail

· Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively

· Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays

· Adaptability to changing situations and ability to work under pressure

· Ability to stand for extended periods and walk throughout the property
