Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Collaborating and supporting parents, teaching staff, community agencies, and the medical community.
● Play a leadership role in school-based counseling teams, guiding collaborative efforts, providing professional
expertise, and ensuring effective delivery of support services.
● Facilitate access to community resources such as counseling, housing assistance, and other social services to meet
the needs of students and families.
● Participating on various committees focused on community and school initiatives.
● Working collaboratively bridging initiatives and programming within Canadian Rockies Public Schools.
● Crisis Intervention at the family and school levels: support in the development of intervention plans to support
students in overcoming challenges related to family dynamics, mental health, or socioeconomic issues.
● Monitoring and addressing attendance concerns.
● Working cooperatively with psychologists, teachers, health therapists, medical agencies and other outside
agencies to coordinate the delivery of required assessments and programming to ensure successful integration
of students within the school.
● Research and remain current with best practices within the area of counselling and social/emotional learning.
● Leading divisional health and well-being initiatives.
● Promote family engagement through workshops, meetings, and one-on-one consultations to strengthen relationships
between home and school.
● Maintain detailed documentation and case files in compliance with confidentiality and professional standards.

Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
● Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Social Work, or a related field.
● Experience working in school environments.
● Experience working with French Immersion, EAL and First Nations students would be an asset.
● Recent experience working with students who have social, behaviour and mental health issues.
● Skill and experience working with parents whose children are experiencing difficulty in school.
● Understanding of child development issues.
● Highly developed skills in individual and family counselling.
● Skills in managing crisis and emergent situations.
● Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
● Commitment to working as an integral member of a team.
● Knowledge of local resources and programs in the Bow Valley.
● Critical Incident and VTRA training an asset.
