Job Description

Guiding half-day and full-day small group canyoning tours in the Banff/Canmore area. Job duties includes: prepping required equipment prior to trips, meeting and instruction clients at the staging/meeting location. Hiking with participants to the top of the canyon and helping participants to gear up. Instructing clients on proper equipment use, rappelling techniques and rope safety. Guiding and coaching people of various ability levels through the different sections of the canyon including slides, down climbs, and rappels. Safely rigging and setting up all rappelling ropes. Ability to perform rescues of clients if necessary. Safely managing groups through rappels as well as other canyoning hazards and risks which may include water. At the end of the trip clean up, sort and dry equipment after each trip.

Job Requirements

- 40 hour Wilderness First aid minimum requirement (80 hour Wilderness First Responder Preferred)
- Previous canyoning/canyoneering experience or certification a strong asset
- ACA Certification (There is the opportunity to obtain on job training and possibe certification)
- Previous climbing, rappelling, and/or other professional rope work/access experience a strong asset
- Previous guiding experience is a strong asset
- Alberta driving licence or Class 4 drivers licence a strong asset
- ACMG or equivalent certification not required but if applicant does not posses ACA certification this is a strong asset
