The Opportunity

The Revenue Analyst is accountable for the daily management and collection of data, revenue processes, analytics, and reporting. This position is responsible for data collection and assisting the Revenue Manager in data analysis with the goal of maximizing Banff Centre’s revenue generation and efficient use of facilities and resources.

Roles and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Revenue Manager, below are some key accountabilities:

– Accurate and timely processing of all billing (outlet billing, room charges, and billing summaries), invoice collection and overdue account management. This includes the accurate input, coding, approval, verification, and final issuance of all invoices
– Ensure all invoices are paid in a timely manner, delinquent notification, and collection of overdue accounts in accordance with established Banff Centre practices and procedures. Maintain positive internal and external customer relations.
– Create new customer accounts as needed for Conferences and other departments requiring external billing, ensuring that amounts are correctly billed and reconciled to the general ledger and are supported by appropriate documentation that identifies and conforms with the terms of client contracts or agreements and GST status.
– Process credit applications to determine the creditworthiness of new customers.
– Assess interest charges on overdue account balances and follows up with departments regarding customers who have delinquent accounts.
– Maintain strong relationships with Banff Centre colleagues to assist in data management, reporting, and invoice collection.
– Assist in developing transient and group pricing strategies.
– Support the Campus Resources Coordinator in analysis, process development and report generation when necessary.
– Assist Revenue Manager in assessing, analysing, and pricing group business.
– Ensure all related systems are configured correctly, where possible, validated, and working up to full capacity.
– Work in liaison with the hotel and conference sales, services, and reservations department as a team.
– Regularly check the input and the quality of data (segmentation, denials tracking, etc…) points. Identify errors in data entry and address the issues with the appropriate department.
– Responsible for monitoring the Visual One-based work of Sales Managers, Conference Services Managers, Program Delivery Specialists, and Food & Beverage Managers to ensure timeliness and accuracy and informing these staff and their manager(s) when deficiencies occur.
– Gather data and information from all relevant sources including software systems, team members, files and databases.
– Assist in analysing data and presenting information, identifying trends, inconsistencies and opportunities.
– Develop, maintain, update and store information in appropriate documents and reports.

– Run and distribute daily, weekly and monthly reports as required.
– Assist in the development and maintenance of corrected historical data for industry-standard analytics.
– Assist in generating and collating reports on a weekly, monthly and special project basis as required.
– Maintain strong relationships with conference team members and other Banff Centre colleagues to assist in revenue management processes.
– Act as point of contact for the sales and service team in management of meeting space.
– Identify and report meeting space limitations and liaise with Banff Centre colleagues to resolve space issues.
– Identify data and reporting inaccuracies and work on solutions in collaboration with the Revenue Manager, Director, Rooms, Director, Conferences, Sales Managers, and other Hospitality supervisors and managers.
– Act as primary contact for external relationship data reporting including with Smith Travel Research (STR) and Banff Lake Louise Hotel Association (BLLHA).
– Special related projects and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree preferred or hotel revenue management diploma/course completion
- Minimum of 5 years work experience in the hospitality industry
- Ability to multi-task, effective problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines
- Exceptional critical thinking, quantitative, and qualitative analytical skills
- Strong knowledge of VisualOne or other property specific software
- High level of interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and maintain relationships with all team members
- Highly computer literate with advanced command of Excel
- Literacy with the Python programming language for advanced analytics and automation is an asset
- Excellent written, verbal communication, organizational and comprehension skills

- In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, salaried support staff position, subject to a 6 month probation period.
- The annual salary for this position is between $44,345.60 to $46,571.20, depending on experience, based on working 40 hours per week.
