EXPOSURE COURSE FUNDING

Exposure Course Funding is a supportive initiative designed to assist those who are unemployed or marginally employed in gaining short-term, skill-specific training to enhance their employment prospects. Below you will find detailed information on eligibility, the application process, and your responsibilities as an applicant.

For more information and guidance on the process, please book an appointment with a team member at the Job Resource Centre here.

Eligibility for Exposure Course Funding

To qualify for Exposure Course Funding, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Employment Status: Be unemployed or marginally employed.
  • Skill Requirement: Job-ready, except for specific skills needed for employment.
  • Employment Prospect: Have a job offer or reasonable expectation of employment within 90 days of completing the course.
  • Residency: Be a resident of Alberta and either a permanent resident, Canadian citizen, or refugee.

Eligible Courses

Courses eligible for funding are those that:

  • Duration: Last 2 weeks or less if full-time, or 6 weeks or less if part-time.
  • Employment Relevance: Directly lead to employment and are an essential job requirement (not merely a “nice to have” qualification).
For instance, a candidate pursuing a role as a Ski Patroller might need Wilderness First Aid and Avalanche 1 certifications. In this scenario, the client could get financial support for these essential courses. However, funding would not extend to their Avalanche 2 certification, as it would be considered an additional, non-essential qualification.
