Job Description
We’re looking for a motivated full-time, permanent Junior Carpenter to join our team located in Exshaw, Alberta, completing innovative timber-framed structures and products. The main responsibilities are to provide support to the team with hands-on carpentry support on residential and commercial projects in the field.
At WPTF we combine traditional German and Canadian timber frame joinery and materials with the latest in technology and innovation on the worldwide market. Together with high standards in green building, efficiency, and sustainability, we create legacy buildings and structures.
Main Activities:
– Installation of shop-cut timber structures in the field
– Complete all carpentry tasks such as cutting, measuring, fastening, framing, and finishing of European & North American style timber frame structures and trusses
– Assembly trusses and TF components in the shop and on-site
– Laying out timber structures on site
– Complete all designs, layout and build timber stairs
– Assist with applying joinery to timbers
– Ensure calculation of all requirements to specifications
– Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications and executing hands-on work with tools
– Ensure the job site is maintained

Job Requirements
Experience & Qualifications:
- Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter certification is an asset
- 2+ years of experience in construction is an asset
- Experience in timber framing and rigging is an asset
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints is an asset
- Telehandler, aerial work platform, first aid, WHIMIS and any other safety certification is an asset
- Ability to communicate well, problem solve and use critical thinking
- Valid driver’s license and own transportation required to site across Alberta
