Job Description
Our companions will embrace Origin’s policies, procedures and philosophies which are described as “The Origin Way” Companions are responsible for one on one care offering support for daily living activities and engagement. The ultimate goal is to further enrich and foster the active healthy lifestyle that Origin has to offer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Report to Life Enrichment coordinator with focus on engaging residents to further enrich their lives on a 1 on 1 basis
-Educate new team members with the philosophy of the companion program
-Deals tactfully and courteously with residents, resident’s families and visitors, reports any questions or concerns to supervisor
-Notifies the supervisor of any staff/resident incidents, completes documentation as required
-Supervises residents in dining room when required. Delivers meal trays to residents when required
-Does light housekeeping for residents as needed
-Transports or escorts residents through the community safely. Assists and/or facilitates recreational activities
-Completes all documentation and communicates with supervisor about activities, needs and problems related to residents care and/or safety.
-Basic computer knowledge
-Ensures personal grooming is appropriate and uniform is clean, tidy in accordance to dress code
-Carries out all duties in a safe manner
-Participates in education sessions, fire and evacuation drills and WHMIS training
-Demonstrates personal attributes and communication skills that foster customer satisfaction at all times
-Performs other related duties as required
Start Date
Job Requirements
Completion of grade 12 or higher
Experience working with seniors and knowledge of the aging process
Current CPR training
